PTSD

In the first image of this photo series, you see a man reflecting on a life filled with too many unjust events—events that have made him a victim of the invisible but devastating condition known as PTSD. His name is Jens, and I am grateful to have gained a personal insight into his life and daily struggles. A life marked by experiences of attempted murder, violence, extortion, and the tragic loss of his ex-wife due to a stalker’s actions. "Every unfamiliar car and person is seen as a potential end to my life," he shares.

Jens' daily existence is marked by a highly irregular and unhealthy sleep pattern, compounded by severe anxiety attacks, which he manages with pills and alcohol. Even something as simple as going to the bathroom is postponed until the last possible moment due to sheer exhaustion. Despite the many challenges Jens faces, he proved to be one of the kindest and most hospitable people I have ever met.

Thank you, Jens.
